With Experience Works, Kopar brings its previous success with a program designed for mature workers to Camrose, Alberta. After having seen large success rates with our program, Opportunities North, Kopar has now been able to offer a similar program to a different region, in conjunction with Alberta and Federal Governments.
Operating out of our office in Camrose, Alberta (100-5015 50th Ave), Kopar brings it’s 12 week program of services to mature workers between the ages of 55 and 64. Funded under the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers by the Federal Government and the Alberta Ministry of Human Services – Employment and Immigration, Experience Works is a federal-provincial/territorial cost-shared initiative that provides employment assistance services and activities, such as skills upgrading and work experience, to unemployed older workers aged 55 to 64 living in vulnerable communities.
In the 12 week course, participants will go through 2 weeks of intensive job search skill training to make sure that the basic requirements of job searching in today’s employment market are known to all participants. This will stem from updated resumes to cover letters, to even cold calling and looking into what we like to call the “hidden job market”. It is a different world out there today than it has been in the past, and job seekers need to be aware of what is going on in order to make sure they stand out in the crowd – and for all the right reasons!
In addition to the job search skills there is an opportunity for individuals to take part in individualized short term certificate training that directly relates to the type of work that is available in Camrose and attainable by our participants. Nothing too long or fancy here, just a direct route to getting back to work in today’s workforce.
